Gemma is an Ecology and Sustainability Consultant who primarily carries out ecological services to support planning applications and BREEAM assessments. With her keen eye for ecological value Gemma is passionate about enhancing biodiversity and works closely with clients to accommodate features of ecological value. Gemma delivers a range of ecological surveys which includes Phase 1 habitat surveys, producing Preliminary Ecological Appraisals and protected species surveys for bats, birds, reptiles, badgers, barn owls, water voles and great crested newts. Gemma also performs biodiversity net gain and urban greening factor calculations for all schemes.
Gemma holds a BSc in Zoology from the University of Bristol, and a MSc in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology from Queen Mary University of London. She holds a Level 1 Class License for Great Crested Newt (WML-CL08) and has been trained by the Barn Owl Trust to assess development sites, design mitigation strategies for Barn Owls and produce reports to planning applications (Barn Owl Ecology, Surveys and Signs (BOESS). Gemma is currently completing training in rare reptiles and is an active member of her local bat group.
