In 2013, we assisted the City of Westminster in producing a Retrofitting Guide for Historic Buildings, partly based on work previously undertaken for the City Council by Eight Associates.
Westminster is particularly rich in historic buildings; three quarters of Westminster housing was constructed prior to 1915. The City Council is working to help shape a sustainable city with its vision for the sensitive and appropriate refurbishment of historic buildings, incorporating features of sustainable design. The Guide takes a detailed look at appropriate measures, considers the consents that might be needed and includes case studies (for both listed and unlisted buildings). It is definitely worth a read.
